can i build a plugin python and call c++ ?

i want to build a plugin to update the epgcache , infact epgcache is updated every 60min i want to change the intervall of update from 60min to 1 min oe 5min so i wonder if i can call the file c++ epgcache.h or epgcache.cpp in a python plugin ????
